Cannot create a new PPA with same name as archived one.

Asked by OpenRAVE Development

When first testing PPA creation, I created one with the name 'ppa'. Because I wanted to change the user name, I deleted it and it got moved to the archive.

Now I want to create anew PPA with the name 'ppa'. However, launchpad won't allow this giving this error:

You already have a PPA named 'ppa'.

The project is:

https://launchpad.net/~openrave/+activate-ppa

The archived PPA I would like wiped out is:

https://launchpad.net/~openrave/+archive/ppa

Can someone on the launchpad maintenance side please help with this?
thank you,

ppa names are permanent, deleting a ppa will not remove the name. You must choose a new name. 'ppa' is actually a bad name because users commonly create more than one and then cannot rename the first one.

BTW. ~openrave is a user. User and teams own archives, which are composed of packages from many projects. Projects cannot have archives at this time.

Can you help with this problem?
