Request for increased space on PPA

Asked by Martin Erik Werner

Would it be possible to increase the space on my "redeclipse" PPA: https://edge.launchpad.net/~arand/+archive/redeclipse

I often end up lacking space for new uploads, so if it could be increased that would be very helpful.

Thanks
- arand

The PPA is using only 848.7 MiB (41.44%) of 2.0 GiB, can you explain exactly why you need more space please? It looks like you have plenty of space to upload new packages.

2 versions of the package fills the PPA, and I sometimes end up wanting to upload a new version soon after an upload, either due to a mistake in need of fixing or a specific feature/bugfix which just got added, which isn't possible as of now.

Only asking out of convenience, it would ease updating flow.

Marked solved as the PPA was breaching the Ts and Cs anyway.

I have discussed on the LP-users mailing list[1] and with upstream.
The packages on the PPA should now comply with the ToU for LP.
Hence if possible and if deemed appropriate, I am still asking for the increased space.

I do not follow this, sorry. I read:

> In effect, as a whole, this game is freeware, and I will likewise distribute
> my packaging work as freeware, no modification allowed.

https://help.launchpad.net/PPATermsofUse shows that Lp expects the packages to be much more than distributable to qualify for free hosting. http://www.debian.org/social_contract#guidelines gives a concise list of tests that the packages must pass.

I think Matthew was mistaken.

Hmm, this is the conversation I had with Matthew over IRC:

10:51 < arand_> mrevell: Hello, in regards to the PPA ToU, Martin Owens making
a conflicting statement on the mailing list, so I just wanted to make
sure, freeware (provided all packaging componets also are freeware)
          can go in a PPA?
10:53 < mrevell> arand_, Hi there. I haven't seen Martin's email yet. I spoke
to a few people in the Canonical Launchpad team yesterday and we
agreed that the terms of use allow you to do what you want ... so
          long as it's freely distributable.
10:55 < mrevell> arand_: I've just read Martin's email and I can totally
understand why he says what he does but our PPA terms of use are
different to those of our project hosting terms of use
          (https://help.launchpad.net/Legal/ProjectLicensing)
10:55 < arand_> mrevell: Ok, excellent. I'll continue poking upstream in hopes
that one day in the future... Anyhow, for now, great, I will re-open
the PPA with these terms applying to the packages, thanks for looking
          into it.
10:56 < mrevell> arand_, No problem. Thanks for being flexible to meet the
          terms of use.
