Can't find "Nominate for release"; how do I SRU now?

Asked by era

I wanted to propose bug #533549 for SRU and read the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/ but the "Nominate for release" option no longer seems to exist in Launchpad. Is the documentation obsolete, or am I doing something wrong, or is there a problem in Launchpad?

The documentation is out of date. The action was renamed a few weeks ago and the permissions were changed a few weeks ago.

Bug supervisors see "Nominate for series", drivers see Target to series. Users who are not members of project cannot nominate.

So how can I propose a patch to be SRU:ed?

I think you need to contact an Ubuntu bug supervisors. I do not see a patch attached to the bug. I believe Ubuntu bug supervisors watch for patches and escalate them for users.

Adding some information here about bug supervisors. They differ by project. As you can see on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu the bug supervisors for the ubuntu project itself is a group called ubuntu-bugs at https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-bugs. Maybe one of the better ways to get their attention is via the IRC channel #ubuntu-bugs where you may want to request a nomination for a particular series when you need it.

I will update the above wiki page now to reflect the latest information.

How do i actually contact the "Ubuntu bug supervisors", this answer does not indicate how they are and how they can be contacted.

Comment #5 mentions the IRC channel #ubuntu-bugs on Freenode.
