Dia page update requested

Asked by dg1727

Hello,

I am a user of Dia, a volunteer-maintained diagramming program whose Launchpad.net page is https://launchpad.net/dia and whose current website is at http://live.gnome.org/Dia

The maintainers of Dia and of its documentation do not seem to have a lot of spare time. So I am not sure that someone on the Dia team is ready yet to take ownership of the Launchpad.net page. Is there any way that the Launchpad.net admins could make some simple updates to this page:

 * "External downloads" link updated to http://live.gnome.org/Dia/Download
 * "Home page" link updated to http://live.gnome.org/Dia
 * Can the Downloads link (green box on right-hand side of page) and "All downloads" link be pointed to where "External downloads" points to?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've fixed the external links. The other downloads are for files served from Launchpad directly and require someone to upload the right files at https://launchpad.net/dia/+download

Thanks for the fast reply!

I notice that Dia is being maintained as part of Ubuntu; for example, at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/+package/dia-gnome

(The chief code-maintainer of Dia told me that "Debian's Dia package maintainer usually reports [to the Dia team when a patch is made by the Debian team]," so the Ubuntu version of Dia is fairly well sync'd to the Dia team's releases.)

1. Is there a way to integrate automatically the 2 Launchpad.net pages for Dia, so that https://launchpad.net/dia always points to the current Ubuntu version of Dia (there might be two links - one for the released version of Ubuntu and one for the in-development version of Ubuntu)?

2. Or at worst, require someone to update link(s) on https://launchpad.net/dia every 6 months for each new Ubuntu release?

If not, how could this type of integration (preferably the first of the 2 proposals :-) be suggested as a feature for Launchpad.net?

Thanks again for your assistance.

Oops, I notice that there is already a "Packages in Distributions" section of https://launchpad.net/dia

Is it possible just to delete the Downloads section and links that are not associated with Ubuntu distributions? I think this would greatly simplify maintenance for the Dia team, and would still allow users to download either the current Ubuntu version of Dia (from the "Packages in Distributions" section) or the Dia team's released or in-development version (from the "External downloads" link).

Please advise. Thanks.

The packages in distributions section is correct -- is shows the version packages in Ubuntu. The Ubuntu community needs that data; they would put the data back if someone were to delete it. Ubuntu/debian source packages are uploaded by packagers. the packages are built by Launchpad. User who become members of ~pkg-dia-team can upload new packages.

I think the problem is that no one set the release finder url for the active series. I set it. In the next few days, Launchpad will download releases from ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/dia and add them to the master series in Launchpad.

Can you help with this problem?
