We try to avoid adding too many specific locales because they may not get enough translators to be usable and thus a lot of work is wasted.

Is French in Togo that much different from normal French (when used on a computer) ?

At least in the case of the software we are requesting this for, iHRIS Manage, it is as it is primarily used by Ministries of Health for various governments. In this case, there are terminological variations from country to country depending on their administrative setup. As these are national entities, they really are the ones responsible for defining the terminology/language that needs to be used. I would think that this would be an appropriate use of locales.

To get a bit off topic, we would also likely relatively soon need a French locale for both Mali and Sierra Leone, which presumably would be fr_ML and fr_SL.

Cheers.

OK, we just had a similar case and solved by creating the locale but not making it public. That means it won't appear in listings but translators can navigate to it by entering the URL directly, e.g. https://translations.launchpad.net/ihris-manage/trunk/+lang/fr_TG

If you are fine with that I am happy to create fr_TG, fr_ML and fr_SL for you.

Please change the fr_SL to fr_SN when you are ready to create it as we would want the translation for Senegal and not Sierra Leone. Thanks.

Done. Actually, I *did* stumble over the fact that French is not an official language in Sierra Leone but forgot about it again. Thank you for the heads-up!
