Mailing list creation taking a long time

Asked by Andrew Ettinger

The osdf-devteam mailing list has been taking a few minutes for the past 20 hours... is this normal? =)

Thanks!

No This is not normal. It takes up to 10 minutes. I would normally suggest deactivating the list, then creating it again, but I do not have the option to do this. I think something primal is stuck.

I will as an admin to see if mailman or xmlrpc is reporting errors.

Curtis, can you describe the process that's failing a little more so that we can figure out where we should be looking? You have access to pretty much all the logs we do as well, so you may find it easier to check them directly. We're certainly not seeing any alerts from either service for outages, but if it turns out there is something wrong that we should be checking for in future, please let us know.

I think we have a mailman or xmlrpc outage because there is another question about a stuck list. (https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+question/136458)

This happened one before when the private XMLRPC server was broken by a cowboy. Can that server be restarted? I expect the backlog will be cleared in about 15 minutes.

Stefan discovered that syncing stopped on December 1. He restated Mailman and the list was synced.

Can you help with this problem?
