comment spam in multiple bugs; how to handle?

Asked by Tommy Trussell

Someone complained about comment spam in a closed bug, so I found a page somewhere that said to open a bug; I opened Bug #677888 https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/677888 and then a later commenter on the first spammed bug said I should have gone to IRC with the spam complaint, whereas at IRC the welcome message says to go to launchpad questions (here).

SO Just to make sure I have done what I should I am opening a question here (which should probably be TWO questions) to point back to my bug. I haven't bothered anyone on IRC as I'm not on it enough to see the response.

Is THIS the right place? Thanks for all y'all do.

spam reports should be asked as questions, but IRC is fine when there is an emergency and there is someone who can attend to the issue immediately. What page suggested to report a bug? User data is not a bug in code so the bug will be converted into a question.

I apologize but apparently either I was looking at a non-Ubuntu page or I misinterpreted a comment. I have not found a page in my browser history with the instruction to open a bug. If I run across one I will address it directly.
