Gmail Forwarding to a team mailing list or better mail filters in lp

Asked by Vish

For the papercuts project we are setting up a new team "The Papercuts Ninja" team <https://launchpad.net/~papercuts-ninja> .
The objective of this team is to fix papercut bugs.
The team gets assigned to the bugs which have been triaged, so the team gets a mail when the bug is assigned.

But we do not want other bug comments to spam the team's mailing list once the team is assigned.
It turns out that we do not have a provision to set such mail filters in the lp mailing list.

As a work around, we opened a gmail mail account [<email address hidden>] , set up the required filters and then auto-forward mails to the team mailing list [<email address hidden> ].

But when I try to send the confirmation mail from gmail account to approve the list mail id as the forwarding address, the mailing list does *not* receive the confirmation mail.

How do i fix this? how do i receive the confirmation mail ?

Or even if we can setup mail filters specifically for the team it would work fine. We need only the "You have been assigned" bug mails to reach the team mailing list.

Can we resolve this as soon as possible? this is *highly* *urgent* as the team needs to go live for Natty Papercut Bugfixes..

I do not think this approach to filter mail will work. Launchpad mailing lists are for registered users. Since google (the from email address) is not a registered user, the email is automatically discarded. You could accomplish such a filter using another service so long as it does not send a confirmation email to a Lp mailing list.

I think you should talk to members of the Launchpad bug team to discuss how to filter bugs. They are working to enable levels for bug subscriptions. One of the levels to to report new and closed bugs only.

Can you help with this problem?
