Source/binary uploads not allowed

Asked by Shane Rice on 2010-11-05

Ok, I have re-packages a Window's python app for Ubuntu/debian. I built the deb, and try to upload it. However I got this error:

Rejected:
Source/binary (i.e. mixed) uploads are not allowed.

My understanding of that is that I can't upload the tar.gz and the deb? Is that correct? How can I get get it to just upload the deb or the tar.gz file? I used this to upload:

dput ppa:bibleanalyzer/bibleanalyzer bibleanalyzer_3.9-3_amd64.changes

And it automagically decides what to upload. Yes, I'm very new to this ppa stuff, at least for maintaining one.

Any help, or reference link would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Shane

Hi

Launchpad builds your package for you, so there's no need to upload the .deb yourself. As you can see, this is explicitly disallowed so that people can be sure they can view the source code for the package that they're using.

Use "debuild -S" which only makes a source package, then dput the *_source.changes file.
