Build failing: dpkg-buildpackage died

Asked by mmbossoni

My package compiles ok for karmic and lucid. For maverick the compilation occurs ok, but the dpkg-buildpackage dies and do not create my package. What could I be doing wrong?

The log is that:

http://launchpadlibrarian.net/57967970/buildlog_ubuntu-maverick-i386.qmc2_0.2.b17%2Bppa1~maverick1_FAILEDTOBUILD.txt.gz

Thanks in advance,
Marcelo

I figured out what was going wrong: dpkg build does not accept packages that put information in /usr/local.

I've changed the installation prefix to /usr and everything works now.

Anyway I think this is a bug. Put things in /usr/local should be allowed.

Debian (and therefore Ubuntu) packaging policy requires that packages not deliver files in /usr/local. See http://debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-opersys.html#s9.1.2
