Deleting packages doesn't seem to free space in PPA

Asked by Christopher Tozzi

The PPA that I manage, https://launchpad.net/~wfg/+archive/0ad, is almost out of space. In order to free up some space, I deleted two packages, hoping to upload new ones in their place.

However, even though the two packages now seem to be gone, no space has been freed in our PPA and I am unable to upload new packages because of an insufficient-space error. Is there a way to free this space up (or add more space to the PPA) so that we can upload new packages?

It takes a while to free up the space in the repository area sometimes as your deletion request is queued up behind all the other PPAs publishing/deletions going on. It should get done within 30 minutes usually.

However, there seems to be a general problem with file deletion at the moment, please check back in a few hours to see if your space is reclaimed, in the meantime we're working on fixing it.

Thanks for the quick response. This makes sense and it looks like the space has cleared up.
