Targeting to release duplicate bug status

Asked by Vadim Nevorotin

I can't understand how targeting to release system work. I try to target to release two my bugs:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-russian-guide/+bug/628837
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-russian-guide/online-manual/+bug/540201
Ok, both of them added to series, BUT first one has only one status, one importance and one milestone, but second has two of each parameter - in main project and in online-manual series. I don't want to duplicate bug to two projects, I want to target bug to one series and to track it status only in this series, not in main project.

Moreover, if I change focus of develompment setting in main project from lucid-guide for example to online-manual first bug also duplicate his status! So all counters at bug page will increase twice! And each bug, which target to lucid-guide milestone, will be present in all bug lists also twice: like bug in main project and bug in lucid-guide series.

Now I has only one bug in online-manual series, but at pages below you can see two:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-russian-guide/+milestone/current
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-russian-guide/+series

The question is how to permanently delete tracking of bug from main project when adding this bug to one of series? And another question: how to move bug from one series to another or back to main project? (how to cancel bug targeting to release?)

Hi,

I replied to the bug you filed, but in short, you cannot delete a bug from a series or retarget to a different series. There's some subtleties to working with series, and I tried to link all the related bugs in the report you filed.

Cheers,
deryck

Thank you for answer! I hope that targeting system will be improved, because now it's only can add entanglement to project's bugtracker instead of helping to organize bugs.
