Launchpad's registry of distros rarely meets the needs of users. Most a distro cannot be used to manage a project. Why do you need Unity Linux registered?

Just like any other of the distros listed there, www.unity-linux.org is a bonafied active distro. Our two main core applications smart and rpm5 are also registered on lp, so as a suggestion from both those project to integrate bug reports more closely.

It will be difficult to share bugs :(

You cannot setup a remote bug tracker for a distro. There is no way to say bugs are tracked at http://dev.unity-linux.org/projects/unitylinux/issues . We could enable Launchpad bug tracking so that bugs can be reported directly against unity-linux, but this will mislead users into thinking that Launchpad is the official bug tracker.

Distro bugs belong to source packages. Only Ubuntu has full support because it is built by Launchpad. Debian sort of works because Ubuntu import Debian package data. There will not be any packages to report the bugs against. Users cannot link projects to the distro (because there are no packages).

We can register the distro and include a link to www.unity-linux.org. It cannot be used for development, but will inform users where Unity Linux can be found.

That works for me. I guess there needs to be a redmine plugin that works with LP, but to just start getting a basic link is good. dev.unity-linux.org

Thank-you.

name: unity-linux
displayname: Unity Linux
Title: Unity Linux
Domain: http://www.unity-linux.org
members: ~unity-linux-members

summary:
Unity Linux provides is set of "core packages" and the tools which make it very easy to remaster the core into a distribution of your liking targeting specific functionality.

Description
Unity Linux, in itself, is not a full distribution. What our group provides is set of “core packages” (i.e. kernel, firmware, toolkits, Desktop Environments, etc) and the tools which make it very easy to remaster the core into a distribution of your liking targeting specific functionality (i.e. educational software, graphics editing, etc) or localizations (i.e. translations into other languages). These remasters are driven by our community groups and it is our job as Unity Linux developers to make the job of remastering as easy as possible. Our group is also responsible for ensuring interoperability between the various core packages to provide a reliable paltform for the remasters. In other words, we do the “dirty” work to make the remaster process as easy and transparent as possible.

Make ~unity-linux-members the owner and driver of the distro so that they can update the distro information.
