Changing name is not allowed

Asked by neelance

Hi,

I am new to Launchpad and realized too late that it used my mail address as my user name (it is "mail-richard-musiol" now) and wanted to change it to "neelance", but I already created a PPA. So first I tried to delete the PPA, but saw that it only disables it. Now the PPA name is blocked, which is my first problem. The second and even bigger problem is, that I can see the input box for changing my name on the personal details page now, but when I change it and click on "save" I am getting redirected to a page saying "Not allowed here - Sorry, you don't have permission to access this page. You are logged in as neelance.". I can't get around this, please help.

Thanks in advance,
Richard

This is a bug we are preparing a special fix for. I fixed your Launchpad ID: https://launchpad.net/~neelance

Thanks for the quick response.
Can you reactivate or delete the mentioned PPA, too? Or is this too complicated? I will use another name then.

I do not think a PPA can be undeleted. The name is also taken, so when you create a new PPA, you must choose a new name.

I do not have any PPAs but I have this same issue; I would like to change my id to cassidyjames instead of cassidy-james-blaede. Upon attempting to change it, I get an error page stating:

"Not allowed here
Sorry, you don't have permission to access this page.

You are logged in as Cassidy James."

How do I go about changing my id?
