Setup issues

Asked by Tony Yarusso

Okay, so I got launchpad to build an run in a VM, and have a couple of initial questions. I'm attempting to set up the db-stable branch to evaluate LP for internal use.

1) I get a message saying "WARNING root Developer mode is enabled: this is a security risk and should NOT be enabled on production servers. Developer mode can be turned off in etc/zope.conf", but 'locate' doesn't find a zope.conf file anywhere. Where should I be creating that, and what should go in it?

2) I can log in with the default user, but can't seem to create any new ones. The "Login/Register" link only goes to a login form. Where would I find the registration page?

While you can run your own instance of Launchpad, we prefer that users contribute to making Launchpad.net better. The code that is distributed is a development version, the version we use to make make improvements.
Reconfiguring the developer instances is a lot of work and I can honestly say no Launchpad developer knows exactly how to do that--we built Lp as a team. If you choose to run your own copy of Launchpad, you must replace all the art because the images are distributed for development purposes only.

Launchpad uses Ubuntu's SSO for registration...Launchpad does not support registration on its own.

Can you help with this problem?
