I am afraid I don't understand the issue. Why are you unable to import your pgp key on launchpad?

I was getting the error message when I try to import my public pgp key in launchpad.

The key 3BAC37811B242965E93F8CC3EC94CCB3DE2BC2ED has already been imported.
--
I checked my old mail and found a message from launchpad
I found couple of mails

Mail#1 Jul 4 2010 to <email address hidden>
Launchpad: Confirm your OpenPGP Key
I thought I may not have processed properly with firepgp firefox plug-in previously. I tried decrypting message by using gpg -d <pgp message in a text file from the launchpademail>. I found a link(URL) to click. when I clicked I got the following message.
--
You reached this page probably because you followed a link received by email. That link was sent to confirm you have access to the email address it was sent to, but this confirmation was already concluded, so you don't need to do anything else.

Mail#2
Launchpad: Merge of Accounts Requested Jul 4 2010,
I click the link in that and I get the following messages
--
Merge accounts
You’re trying to merge the Launchpad account named arjunaraoc-gmail into the account named arjunaraoc.

after I confirm, I get the following
--
Timeout error

Sorry, something just went wrong in Launchpad.

We’ve recorded what happened, and we’ll fix it as soon as possible. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Trying again in a couple of minutes might work.

(Error ID: OOPS-1713N236)
--
I try again and get the same error.
Wonder where is the error.

Cheers
Arjun

This is a common timeout caused by more data than can be moved in the time of the request. You need to repeat the merge several times until it completes. I recall one profile required 26 tries.

I tried several times but did not succeed.
Can it be done at backend (through console) instead of multiple tries from me?
As an alternative, can you consider deleting the account that does not critical information or not used that often?
Also will this really fix the PGP issue?

The UI is the only way to perform a merge. The last oops number you pasted is a timeout, which is why I suggest you keep trying. Each try moves a few more bits of data. You can paste another oops and I will check if the error is still a timeout.

Something wrong with architecting this kind of action.

Yes, merge is fatally flawed. There are about 20 bugs related to it and the fix is a major project. The only way to complete the merge is to keep trying. The timeout says it is in the merge translation messages phase.
