Google Maps API server rejects request

Asked by J. Lewis Muir

When I navigate to the Maintainers page of a Launchpad project (e.g. https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-drivers), I get the following error message dialog box:

``The Google Maps API server rejected your request. The "client" parameter specified in the request is invalid.''

I've tried this on the MySQL and Inkscape project Maintainers pages and they exhibit the same problem as well, so I'm guessing this is happening for all project Maintainers pages.

I've confirmed this behavior with Safari 5.0.1 and Firefox 3.6.8.

Google's secure map server is broken. We are discussing removing maps from Launchpad until Google fixes itself.

Launchpad users can avoid the message by unchecking the "[X] Display map" checkbox. If this problem persists, we will consider removing maps from Launchpad until the issue is addresses.
