Project translations queue

Asked by Zarzuelo

Hi,

I have a project in launchpad website (pandora-fms) with several traduction files. I uploaded the source code to a baazar repository, but I can´ t sync this code to the actual .po files.

I tried to upgrade the .po files of launchad with the new traductions. When I was upload it, the changes are stored in the import queue under the label of "needs review". All occurs more than two weeks ago and I don't know if I must wait more or I was fail into the process.

Anywise I prefer the synchronization option.

Thank you in advance

At the moment, Launchpad doesn't support the file layout you are using for translations (i.e. "<path>/<lang>/<lang>.po"). Also, there doesn't seem to be a POT file to import either (it should be in the branch, or it should be possible to regenerate it using simple "intltool-update -p" call).

Documentation describes the layout we currently support well:

  https://help.launchpad.net/Translations/YourProject/ImportPolicy#Sample%20directory%20layout

In the future, we'd like to support the layout you are using as well, but we don't have the time to implement it right away. See also bug 444706 and bug 540628.

Hi, thanks for the help.

I saw my error and delete all the files with the layer "<path>/<lang>/<lang>.po" and upload the files again with the accepted layer "<lang>/<lang>.po" one week ago. I dont know if I did it good but the files still in "Needs review" status. Could you tell me if the layer is totally correct and if the files will be updated correctly? thanks.

Anyway, Could be perfect know how to synchronize the baazar repository with the translations too.

Thank you very much in advance

It should be "<path>/<lang>.po", not "<lang>/<lang>.po". And the template should also be in <path>. For example, this would be a correct layout:

po/pandora-fms.pot
po/de.po
po/es.po
po/fr.po
po/pt.po
po/pt_BR.po
po/tr.po

In your case there are still 2 problems:
 * The template (".pot file") is missing. There should be one.
 * The translations (".po files") are not all in the same directory. They should be.

Oh, my mistake: the template already exists, so that part is taken care of. Its filename is include/languages/index.pot, so the PO files should be

include/languages/de.po
include/languages/es.po
include/languages/fr.po
include/languages/pt.po
include/languages/pt_BR.po
include/languages/tr.po

etc.

Hello,

When you answered me, I change the layer of the upload trarball to "po/pandora-fms.pot" (template) and "po/es.po" "po/fr.po" etc.

This occurs 4 days ago, and I still waiting with the "Needs review" state. Is this format the correct? Thanks

Ok, thank you, the translations has been imported successfully.

But could be perfect synchronize the baazar repository to the po files. Can I do this easily?

My repository have a folder named include, and this folder contains an other named languages. Into languages folder I have all the po files like the tarball of the recent import (template included)

/include/languages/es.po
/include/languages/pt.po

etc...

have I do anything else? How often is updated?

I have a last question. In the manual importing, for example, since I up the files until it is updated, if somebody set new strings translation in any language, what happens with it? the strings are merged or the new translations are lost?

Thank you very much in advance

You can synchronize translations with bazaar branches directly. You just need to set up a bazaar "export" on the same page you set up the import (i.e. https://translations.launchpad.net/pandora-fms/trunk/+translations-settings).

As for your other question, no translations should be lost, though we do have a bug at the moment that causes some translations to be "hidden" (see bug #548375: we should be fixing it soon).

Can you help with this problem?
