How is someone asking one question getting more Karma on a project than the developer?

Asked by Tomio

II am developing a small project, writing and updating it slowly with time. One guy asked a question in the early days, which quesiton became obsolete, still this guy is listed as the highest karma contributor. Is this fair? How can this be corrected?

The FAQ says that karma is normalised for each type of activity, so I guess that it's because far more Launchpad users push Bazaar branches than ask questions.

Conversely, far fewer create blueprints, so simply changing the prioirty of one results in hundreds of karma points. This could also be seen as unfair, but project owners are well placed to generate lots of Specification Tracking karma.

We want to abandon karma because it gives arbitrary value to user actions. The real value is helping a community. There are no plans to remove karma at the moment, but we may stop rebalancing it because it is very expensive to do.
