A private ppa would shorten the current build lag?

Asked by Gerald Dachs

I expect that using a private ppa would shorten the time we have to wait for a build, is this true? As we currently think about to host a launchpad on our own server and this would cost us money, I am curious how much you take for a private ppa. We have no commercial interests, but we can't wait a week for a build.

Hi

You would need a commercial subscription to get a private PPA and that would significantly lessen your waiting times. They currently cost $250 per project per year but I believe there's a trial period. Plus, you get the benefit of more privacy features in general. If you're interested I can put you on to someone who deals with the commercials.

The current build times are unusual since there are a couple of double whammys hitting us:
 1. Many of the machines in the build farm belong to the team that does hardware testing and they are currently doing testing for Maverick Alpha 3.
 2. Some people are doing rebuild testing for Maverick.

So, fewer builders and a bigger queue meant a long wait. However, this situation is temporary and the queue sizes will be back to normal later today.

Can you help with this problem?
