Subscribe for Private Bugs

Asked by David Graf

Hello
Why is it only possible to subscribe for the email notifications of public bugs? I am an administrator of a private project and have the following problem:
Because we are working intensely with launchpad, launchpad generates a lot of private bug emails. But some of my colleges do not want do receive all of them. Others want to receive all of them. But somehow, I am only able to subscribe all of my buddies for the emails (by making the group the bug supervisor) or none (by making me the bug supervisor).
My question is: Why is it not possible for a group member to subscribe for private bugs of the group? Or is it somehow possible?

I already tried a different approach. I wanted to send the bug emails to the group's mailing list. But this is a very bad idea because the mailing list is not private. We cannot send private bugs to a public mailing list.

We need to be clear on one point--Launchpad does not have private projects.

That is ok. Our project must not be private anyway. Non-group members need to be able to send us public bug reports and questions.

Hi, David.

You can set a team as the bug supervisor and set a mailing list or other email as the contact for the team. This would prevent mail from going to each individual member of the team.

Hey

We cannot use the Mailing List from Launchpad because this mailing list is public.

David

David, you can set the contact email for a bug supervisor to any email. It can be a mailing list on Launchpad, another mailing list hosted somewhere else, a private email. Any email that works for your purposes would be fine. Or, you can leave the contact email blank and only the people who join the bug supervisor team you set up would get emails about bug changes.

Hope that helps. Cheers,
deryck
