How long should I wait for a package to be built?

Asked by Caleb Callaway

I've submitted an update to a PPA via dput, and received a confirmation e-mail saying the submission was accepted. However, the new version does not show up in the PPA's package list, and I have not received any messages indicating the build succeeded or failed. It has been about an hour. In the past, builds have taken somewhere in the 10-15 minute range to build and publish.

I imagine there are various times when the system is under load that will cause the system to be slower, but I have no idea when those might be.

How long should I wait before suspecting a problem of some kind?

Hi

The build pages for your package will have an estimated time to start building.

As you've noticed, this time can vary quite wildly due to load and available builders.

I went to <ppa URL>/+builds page and have the following message:

"No 'Needs building' build records. "

Still no sign of the new package version on the main PPA page either.

What is the URL to your PPA and what is the package name and version?

The new version I submitted (and received confirmation for) was 2.1.7.20100621-0ubuntu1

I've searched the log files and there is no record at all of you uploading that version. I see a lot of attempts to upload the 2.1.7.20100618-0ubuntu2 version though, where you either upload .deb files (which is not allowed) or re-upload tarballs with different contents (not allowed).

Can you please paste your confirmation email here?

Perhaps it would be best to simply try submitting it again?

Well, this is embarrassing. Turns out I uploaded it to the wrong PPA.
