launchpad login/name change

I'd like to shorten my LP name from "fta+launchpad" to "fta" (yet without changing my email) so it's easier with Bazaar.
Problem is "fta" is already assigned, but never used in 2 years. Could you please free it ?

Thanks for this answer but it's all about merging. I don't want to merge. I just want to know if it's possible to obtain 'fta' already taken but never used in 2 years. I'm currently using 'fta+launchpad', which proved not handy for Bazaar.
I've been told on #launchpad that I have to request that used account to be freed here.

That account is actually inactive, and it is actually a dupe of ~gudmund-fta. Done.
