Some translations accepted automatically, others come back for review.

Asked by Wes Groleau

Another Q&A helped me figure out (for the most part) the right way to change translations. But now I have a question that's more of a curiosity than a problem.

This happens both on new translations for untranslated items and on updates to previously translated items. Most of my changes immediately become "reviewed and accepted by" but some of them come back asking me to review them. A few I actually marked as needing review, but most of them, as far as I can tell, got the exact same treatment as the ones that are reviewed and accepted at the same time.

Hi Wes,

Can you please give us some links to the exact examples or translations that we are talking in this questions/support request?

This should help us in understanding your problem.

Kindest regards,
Adi

I'm afraid I can't. The project is webtrees, and the language is Spanish. Since it only happens occasionally, I can't predict when it is going to happen. I could report the next one that happens, but after the fact might be too late to learn anything from it. It's not really a problem for me, just a curiosity. Doesn't hurt me to click the approval when it comes back again.

I think there are some logs and the server indicating why the Spanish translations was automatically approved and the automatically rejected.

Can you please report the next time when this happen and don't manually approve the file.

Kindest regards,
Adi

Hm... not sure what can go wrong.

Are you sure you are working in "Reviewer mode" and that the "Someone should review this translation" button is not checked while submitting the translations?

Cheers

As I said, I _occasionally_ request review by someone else, but this has happened on some where there was no question. But only on a few, maybe ten percent.

oops, yes, I have been doing all this in reviewer mode. Had to figure that out. When the screen says "reviewer mode" it’s not obvious whether it’s telling you it’s in that mode or whether it’s a link to change _to_ that mode. :-)

I agree that the „Review/translator mode” is a bit confusing.

The text indicates the _current_ working mode.

But you can watch for the „some needs to review...” check box. If it get automatically checked when you add a new translation, than you are in the translator mode.

Can you help with this problem?
