Purging archive

Asked by Andrea Corbellini

Hello,

A while ago I've scheduled all my PPA packages for removal. The problem is that they have never been purged. I was sure that the removal script ran every 24 hours, but it has been more than a week that I've tried to clean my PPA. I've also tried to disable and un-publish the archive, but this does not seems to work. So, what should I do?

Thanks,
Andrea

Hi Andrea

Have you clicked on the "Delete PPA" link on your PPA page?

Actually, I don't want to delete my PPA. I just want to remove all the packages. I want to to this because, according to +edit, this is the only way I have to change my Launchpad ID:

This user has an active PPA with packages published and may not be renamed.

Once you've had packages published, the only way to rename is to delete your PPA using the "Delete PPA" link. This deletes the repository area completely, which is the block to renaming (otherwise it would become orphaned).

When you've renamed your account, it's possible to re-enable the PPA if you want.

Aaah, now I understand. I misunderstood the phrase on +edit. It think it should be reworded like this:

This user has an active PPA and may not be renamed

Removing "with packages published", that was the part that confused me.

This bit of text was added because you can actually rename an account with a
PPA, provided it's never had packages published in it.
