Migrate lp-l10n-fr mailing list archives to lp-l10n-fr-community

Asked by Nicolas Delvaux

Hi,

We are re-organizing the "lp-l10n-fr" team: we wanted an open mailing list and so we created "lp-l10n-fr-community" (so open ML but review rights still belong to "lp-l10n-fr").

Please, can you migrate the old mailing list archives to the new team?

Once it's done, I will ask to migrate archives from "lp-l10n-fr-administrators" back to "lp-l10n-fr".

Thanks in advance!

Well, I got another problem:
I requested the "lp-l10n-fr-community" mailing list yesterday (a few minutes before asking this question) and it's still unavailable ("This team's mailing list will be available within a few minutes.")

At the same time I requested the deletion of the "lp-l10n-fr" mailing list (I followed the how to for migrating archives) and it's still active and it say: "This team's mailing list is being deactivated."

What's going on? (eg: last time I requested a mailing list it has been available a few seconds later)

Cool, the "lp-l10n-fr-community" mailing list is now active and the "lp-l10n-fr" one has been deactivated.

Now, do you think you can migrate the archives before the end of the week ?
It would be really great ! :)

We don't currently have a way of merging mailing list archives. Please file a bug about this if it's a feature you would like to see in Launchpad (and feel free to link this question to that bug report).

Thanks, Tom

Well, according to this: (https://help.launchpad.net/Teams/MailingLists)

"If you want to migrate the old mailing list archives to the new team, re-open the original question you submitted above, providing the old and new team names so that the Launchpad administrators can import your old archives."

Is this really impossible for now? I didn't ask for a merge, just for a migration.
If there is not such a feature currently, someone should edit the above help page.

Thanks !

(Sorry to insist)

In fact this migration is optional for us, it would be better but it's not a blocker.

→ I say this because we currently have no mailing list: we wait for the migration before using the new one (lp-l10n-fr-community) and the former one (lp-l10n-fr) has been deactivated (again, for the migration).

So, if you definitely can't migrate these archives (or that it will take weeks), just say it so we are no longer stuck in this "transitional" situation. (of course, if this just a matter of days, we will wait).

I hope you understand our situation.

Thanks in advance !

How is this request to move an archive already in lp different from importing an external archive? I think this is the same process.

Hum, any update about this? As I said, we are stuck for now...

Just say
"Yes, we can do that, just wait a few days (max) and it will be ok" or "No, it's too long/difficult/something, you can start using your mailing list now (and sorry for your archives ;))"

So, basically, we just need a yes/no answer.

Once again I hope you understand our situation.

We started using our mailing list as is.

It's a shame that there is not a proper "archives migration" process.
It may be a good thing to improve (and to document).

Thanks anyway. :-)
