Source Mage GNU/Linux distribution registration

Asked by sandalle

I have read https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+faq/22 and would like convert Source Mage GNU/Linux (https://launchpad.net/sourcemage) as a Distribution (so it shows up as a Distribution for addings bugs to the list (e.g. https://bugs.launchpad.net/desktopcouch/+bug/566073/+distrotask).

I am the current Project Lead (as seen from http://www.sourcemage.org/SourceMage/Developers) and would like to be made the admin.

Rename sourcemage and create a distro of the same name. Make the user both the owner and the driver.

Project cannot be converted to distros. Your project cna be deactivated and renamed so that we can register a distro. If you do this, you will not have a project to manage your source code changes. Your distro will not have packages, mirrors, or translations because these features can only be used by Ubuntu. Bugs will work as you describe, but users, including yourself will not be able to navigate to those packages except by the bugs that are targeted. Do you want us to do this?

My main goal is to be able to mark bugs in Launchpad as affecting this distribution so upstream can see what distros are affected. Would that be better served by keeping this as a project? If so, then we can leave it as-is, but please assign ownership to me. If not, then I would like to switch it (via rename/delete) to a distro.

Thanks. :)
