Create a LimeWire Translation goup:

Asked by Jarret

Hello again Launchpad Team:

We'd like to request a new group be made for our LimeWire translation efforts. Now that we've reached a certain percentage of completion in our key languages we would like to focus on quality and be able to manage those translating for us more closely.

Please let me know if you need additional information.

Thanks and regards, Jarret
Lime Wire Global.

Jarret, sorry for taking this long to respond. Is there any particular reason you don't want to use one of the existing groups like "Launchpad Translators" (this is a generic group with stricter policies on teams and translators).

If you don't want to do that, just let me know and I'll create a LimeWire group for you.

Hello:

Apologies for the delay in my reply as well, we were on an extended weekend for the Easter holiday.

Our original thought for building a LimeWire group was to be able to have a more involved role with our translators in the 17 languages we currently support in our software.

Because we've reached a roughly 90% completion point across those languages, and don't anticipate adding or changing many stings, we thought that having our own group and managing the top translation contributors would let us focus on the quality and completeness of the 17 languages.

After some correspondence with a few of the French contributors we were informed that the process by which translations are accepted is often slow due to the Launchpad Translators being focused on other projects. We figured if we had our own group we could rely on our top contributors in the LimeWire project and take some of the burden off of the main Launchpad Translator group/teams.

Please let me know your thoughts on the matter, any advice we can get about how to best handle our translation needs is appreciated!

Best regards from New York,

Jarret / Lime Wire Global.

Sounds like the right approach: having your own group does give you better translators in the sense that you get only people who are really interested in your project. Using a wider group like Launchpad Translators gives you a wider group of translators who usually care more about their language (and having more translations) than about any specific application. If you feel you are at a point where switching focus is the right thing to do, then creating a LimeWire specific translation group is the right way forward.

I've done that now and made you an administrator: https://translations.launchpad.net/+groups/limewire-translators

Now you can use this translation group for LimeWire.

Btw, it seems you have set a team containing all translators as the English translators. You need to assign per-language translators/teams if you want to achieve any quality :)

Yes - I didn't get the chance to add the rest of the languages and was going over the group features to see how they functioned... =) I'll be adding the proper translator / teams shortly.

Thanks again!
