Add commit/merge/push permissions for individual users in code branches without adding a group?

This is very similar to question #83470 but regards code branches: Is there a way to grant individual users push access to a particular code branch (assuming me or my group is the owner of course?) I don't want to have to create a group for every branch, and admitting access for the whole repo is not prudent.

Right now the only way to control write access to the branch is through the owner team (or individual).

One of the next big features we are looking into is access control lists (ACLs) done right, which will make this a possibility. However that is quite some time off (think at least 6 months).

Can you help with this problem?
