What does Launchpad "servers configurations" mean?

Asked by Diki Arissidiki DF

I'm not sure I understand what you mean with "servers configurations" you stated in FAQ #920. If I use my own name, logo, google client id, images, icons (of course, I replace some hardcoded celebrities, such as Ubuntu, as well), launchpad.conf, launchpad-lazr.conf and mail-configure-normal.zcml, and I adapt other zcmls to suit my needs, is it sufficient to run Launchpad on my own server(s)?. If not, what else should I do?. Thanks for your help.

"Configuration" also means which services run on which physical machines, etc. Running a stable instance of Launchpad requires thinking through many deployment issues; just running the whole app on a single box usually isn't going to work out very well (except for development and testing purposes, of course).

I've updated the FAQ item to clarify things a bit.

Thank you for your answer.
Actually my question is regarding the "right" to run it (for production purposes), this is the most important issue to me, regardless many deployment issues. Yes, I know your purpose in making Launchpad free and open software. I think I can, at least, translate Launchpad into my native languange (Indonesian) once it become really translatable (and contribute my translations).
For now, just to be more clear, by doing those I mentioned in my question, do I have the "right" to run Launchpad-based services on my own server, without any rights violated?. Thanks.

Like the FAQ states, yes you can if you change the branding and images files.
FAQ #920: “Can I run Launchpad on my own server”.
