Slashdot-like Export restrictions in the UK / for Launchpad ?

Asked by Ruediger Berlich on 2010-02-09

Hi there,

we have moved our project to Launchpad a couple of months ago from Slashdot. While I believe that, to the best of my knowledge, our project does not contain anything remotely related to encryption, I'd still like to ask whether there are similar restrictions for the UK. Here I assume that the Launchpad servers are hosted in the UK.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Ruediger

Yes, Launchpad is hosted in the UK.

We haven't removed or banned any hosted projects because of UK law requirements yet. Nor do we have any bans for export regulations. I'm not aware of any UK laws that would require us to implement a policy similar to SourceForge. But I am not a lawyer and this is not a legal advice.

If you want a definitive answer in regards to UK regulations, it's unfortunate but you should seek out appropriate legal advice.

Can you help with this problem?
