Use the above file instead.

The copy at yahoo might have required membership in that "group" for you to read it.

We have the old mailing list off line now, and this means I am in a bad spot politically until we can open up the new mail list. But we need this history in place before we can start adding to it. We are trying to preserve historical continuity.

But as I say, I was expecting this would happen last night, and Steve ran into some bad luck downloading the darn YAHOO file. In the mean time we shut down the old list expecting the new one to be in place already.

So I am in a bad spot at this moment.

THANKS much in advance for escalating it to the best of your abilities.

Hi, terribly sorry about the delays there.

This has now been done.
My Q&D check of the archives suggests it's all imported ok. Can you confirm?

Steve,

The free perl script I used to grab the yahoo messages and create the
mbox file left some garbage at the end of each message, consuming more
or your disk space and creating needless whitespace and significant
garbage text at the end of each message, with the garbage text being
longer for longer threads. The yahoo forum format was apparently too
nasty for this tool to perform cleanly.

My fault in this was trusting the free tool to actually work, and not
looking over more of the messages for reasonable-ness before I queued it
up for you.

Since then, I wrote a C++ program to clean up the end of each message
before it is inserted into the mbox file, overcoming the deficiencies of
the perl tools.

I feel terrible asking you to do it again, but I think our users will
very much appreciate having the tidy, concise messages, that my C++
filter program is now providing.

I am requesting that you do this one more time if you can.

The input filename is still the same,

You are a valuable resource to the organization.

Thanks,

Dick

This was mostly sorted thru IRC, but for the record.
* New new mbox (re)imported.
* List checks as working.
* Hordes signing up.
* Cats and Dogs living in harmony.
The last may not be true...

Cheers!
