Can LanShark working large LANs with sub networks and routing?

Asked by Adrian Capel on 2009-04-26

Is possible use LanShark in a large network LAN with subnets, routing and NAT?

It is a wireless network many users. Is use dynamic routing (OSPF and BGP) and many users use NAT in their private networks.

LanShark seems a good system for P2P file sharing in this type of networks, but did not get it to work.

Thank you.

Greetings.

I'm not sure if lanshark is an optimal solution for such a network. Lanshark was designed for relatively small (less than 100 peers) local networks. Larger non local networks would require (different) optimizations.

Lanshark uses local broadcasts for discovery and searching, normally this doesn't work across nat's
This can be solved using a VPN which will also make the communication confidential. But VPN's arent exactly easy to setup, maintain and use.

I hope this answers your questions.
