Keyboard focus issues

Asked by Johan Forsberg

I find kupfer to be a very interesting application with potential for greatness.

I have some smaller issues with it though. Quite frequently when navigating in kupfer something happens to move the keyboard focus away from kupfer so that I have to manually move it back. I am not sure what causes this, sometimes I guess it's caused by me inadvertently moving the mouse (touchpad etc) but not always.

Would it be possible to make kupfer steal the keyboard focus entirely while it's open? I guess still having the possibility to move things around with the mouse would be good (e.g. selecting text) but I can't really see any point in allowing keyboard focus for other windows while kupfer's window is open. It's not that big a deal to close and then reopen kupfer afterwards.

I realise that this would make kupfer's window sort of "modal" and this may be viewed as a Bad Thing...

Hi,

This should absolutely be considered. Kupfer tries to be a normal window (but floating above everything); the user should be able to move the window, interact with it, and importantly [but not yet implemented :-( ] should be able to drag and drop items from/to the window.

I also experience this sometimes but I just think it's my fault for using a trackpad and hope that no other Kupfer users experience it.. but of course they do!

Disclaimer:
I'm sorry, this is a major Launchpad WTF for me -- I did not get any notification (E-mail or so) about new Questions about Kupfer at all! Also, the main Q & A page comes up empty for me (you have to search again). So all people asking have been heard by no one, and the first question was in September. I found out about these questions via Google.

I'm not very familiar with launchpad, so I wasn't sure whether to file a bug report/feature request or what was expected. Should I file a feature request instead? It seems unclear what the "answers" tab is for, exactly :)

Yes, both bugs/deficiencies and feature suggestions should be reported in the bug tracker.

Thank you
