RE: installation

Asked by Ade Moore

A few questions regarding the install:
1) Am I right in thinking that the install is the same as for Ubuntu.
2) what is the minimum size for the USB stick .
3) Is everything ( webcam, card reader etc ) working "out of the box ", or is there the need for setting things up.
Regards
Ade Moore

Hello Ade and thanks for the questions. Amazed that we already have some.
At any rate, to answer them

1) No. It was based off of the official Ubuntu Mini ISO (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD). Rather then trim the fat out, we are adding the fat in.
2) Right now the iso is small (a little over 296 megs). It is our goal to keep it as small as possible, the max we want to see is 500 megs.
3) Right now no as it is the generic hardy kernel. I am working on the kernel right now to get this all working. When using this kernel, the system boots fast and most everything works. The card reader requires an extra script to function.

We are only in alpha 0.1 right now. This was only created to get the developers all on the same page. Development is moving at a rapid pace, so check back often. The better place to check is http://kuki.me as we are still getting used to launchpad.
