How to install kontakter-server

Kontakter-server is already installed, it is included in the main kontakter setup programm...

it is just another software like kontakter, that provides the database engine to synchronize your contacts

In order to use kontakter-server you should be familiar with things like, ports, ip-adresses and so on...

sorry, but what do you mean with "hosted account"?

The hosted account is a hosted service provider account where you can host files, a mySQL database, run php applications etc.
So the question is, how do I install the kontakter server? I know the IP address of my remote hosted account which is on a Unix server.

Yes, I saw there is a kontakter server, but it is on the same PC where my Kontakter installation is. How do I install it on a remote server on a hosted account so I can backup and then sync the files?

This is not possible, because the synchronization (for now) works only with the specific engine provided by the server (kontakter-server)...

But, maybe we implement a mySQL synchronization module, so it is possible to do such thing...

I think this would be a great idea. It would open up a whole world of possibilities, especially when playing with the source code.

I think its great! It came at the right time for me and is exactly what i needed.

I really can't wait to see futur development.
