GND pad of 2.4g antenna does not connect to zone

Asked by Oliver Xie

I designed a 4-layer PCB including RF antenna, and used an entire ground layer (the In1.Cu) and placed a copper zone for that. In addition, I placed another copper zone the front layer (F.Cu) where I placed the 2.4G antenna.

The GND pad of the antenna is a through-hole pad, and I want it to connect both two copper zone mentioned. However, this pad only connects to the zone of In1.Cu layer but not connects with the F.Cu zone. Just like they belong to different nets, the copper zone sidestep the GND pad.

I checked the settings of these two zones and kept them the same, and the GND pad of the antenna also allows the solid copper connection. I don't know how to solve this problem, please help me if you know the reason.

I used the 2.4G antenna in official package library (RF_Antenna: Texas_SWRA117D_2.4GHz_Left). And By the way, Do I need to connect the GND pad to copper zones of two layers? Is it recommended?

Without seeing the board, it is hard to know the reason. However, a good place to post the board and this question is at the user forum https://forum.kicad.info Lots of folks will be willing to look over the design and provide answers and feedback.

Thank for your reply. I will check that.

Should I upload the entire board? Or I just need to put some snapshots of the board indicating the problematic area.
