Freeze on creating footprints

I can launch the application just fine and I can use layout view no problem. Once I try to open the footprint editor to create some new footprints for my PCB, the window will open but then it simply goes unresponsive until I kill it. So far I have not been able to find a way around this behavior.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, cleaning out my appdata directory, and updating my video card drivers. So far nothing has helped. Any help would be appreciated, if I could also get the path to where the log files are located I can look through them.

Hi Chris,

More appropriate place to report this kind of problems is the bug tracker [1]. Please describe the problem there and do not forget to add required information about KiCad version and the operating system, you will find them in the About dialog.
