Cannot remove tracks

Asked by Leandro Heck

Hi, I am using the latest (nightly) Kicad. I drew many tracks and vias on PCBNew (probably using a very low grid). Now, I just removed all tracks and vias but the layout still has some dots of tracks (I guess they are the tracks that were under the vias). I don't have any idea on how to remove them. Probably I have to remove them from the .kicad_pcb file using a text editor. I don't know if this is a bug or am I using PCBNew in a wrong way. I appreciate any thoughts on how to fix this. I also tried to reimport the netlist removing old tracks but this didn't work.

Hi Leandro,

What is exactly the problem? Are the tracks not removed when you try to delete them? How did you remove the tracks previously?
If you are looking for an automated way, then I would suggest using Edit->Global Deletions tool.

I figured out now that the dots are filled_polygon. I can remove them manually from the file, but why they are created and why they can't be removed.

Question: Is it possible to add remove the filled_poligons with the "Cleanup Tracks and Vias" option?

Hi Maciej,

I think I tried one or two ways of deleting the tracks and vias. I am trying to fix this issue for 3 days, so I actually don't remember for sure the way I did to remove the tracks. I think I removed some of the tracks manually with the delete key and after I found this "Cleanup Tracks and Vias" menu. Probably I changed the layer definitions before removing the tracks because I was playing around to learn all PCBNew features.

Oh, I didn't see the Edit->Global Deletions tool. Testing it right now, I could not delete the filled_polygons deleting tracks, but deleting zones did it, Thank you for the suggestion.

Leandro,

For future reference, questions ask here should be about kicad
development not questions about using kicad. Please use the kicad users
forum[1] for getting user help.

Thanks,

Wayne
