Footprint library wizard, improve file browsing

Asked by Fabián Inostroza

Hi,

would it be possible to improve the file chooser used in this wizard?.
At least for me, in Linux, always starts at / and the tree navigation requires too much scrolling to get to the desired folder/file.
If it would initially point to the current project folder, to the last used folder or to the system installed libraries would be nice, even better it would offer some way to go directly to system libraries or current project folder.

EDIT: a standard system file chooser would be better, it would include access to user favorite folders

We could change this but I don't know if anyone will have time to work on it before the stable 5 release. We already have a manpower shortage so I cannot guarantee when we will get around to changing this. You could file a bug report and set the importance to wishlist.

Thanks, I understand.

I only recently realized that the GTK file chooser also uses tree navigation and that there is no way to change it, the most annoying thing of the tree navigation in the wizard is the large number of folders present in /etc/

Can you help with this problem?
