Process for Other Linux Distro Pull Requests

At the bottom of the KiCAD download page (http://kicad-pcb.org/download/), it mentions that a pull request is how releases for other (Linux) distributions can be added. Can someone describe the process for doing this? I would like to add a pre-built binary for enterprise Linux (RedHat, CentOS, etc.) but I'm not sure of the process or pitfalls associated with doing such a thing. This may be complicated by the fact that the EL repositories (EPEL, ELREPO, etc.) are generally behind the curve of dependency versions for compatibility reasons.
