Cannot create library

Newbie to Ubuntu and Kicad.

When trying to save a new component I cannot create a library and keep getting the error message....

"The folder could not be created. Error creating directory. Permission denied"

OK, it's probably something basic and I seem to recall seeing something online somewhere about creating directories and libraries etc but cannot find it again!

What do I need to do?

OK,

perseverance got me the answer.... putting 'sudo' in front of the chown command helps

D'oh....

But, then again, why would installing Kicad make everything inaccessible in the first place? Crazy.
