kicad personality change

I've been happily using the latest version of kicad with linux mint 17.1 for some time. Yesterday it abruptly changed behavior. Right click on objects has very limited menu, grid changed from dots to lines, ... I removed and reinstalled kicad - no change. Copied my files to another older laptop with same linux and kicad - works again. Any suggestions?

I forgot to mention that the problems appear in pcbnew and the footprint editor.

Found the problem! Probably should be considered a bug. Kicad left something bad in .config/kicad. Moved the file elsewere and the problems disappeared.

You most likely switched from legacy (aka default) canvas to opengl canvas (or cairo canvas) this can be switched in the view menu in pcbnew.
