Asked by Michael Forsyth

How do you convert kicad .brd file to kicad_pcb file. I don't want to have to redo the layout.

Just open the .brd file with Pcbnew and then save it. It will be saved as a .kicad_pcb file. The conversion is automatic.

The documentation shows "New" "open" "append"
New and open do not exist and append is greyed out in the application.
If there is more than 1 .brd file you can't choose which one.

You can no longer open a board that is not part of the project scope when running Pcbnew from the KiCad project manager. This is by design. You must run the Pcbnew executable outside the project manager to load boards outside of a project scope.

Can you help with this problem?
