Cvpcb not working in Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS trusty

Asked by athul george appadan

I installed kicad in Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS (trusty) but cannot run cvpcb through the terminal. An error "The program 'cvpcb' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt-get install kicad" is reported. What could be the problem?

CvPcb can is no longer a stand alone executable. It is now run as a child window from Eeschema. This was done because using the footprint association file (*.cmp) is no longer used. The transfer of footprint associations is internal to Eeschema. Remove any CvPcb application links from your system. They are no longer valid.

Is there any way possible to open cvpcb through terminal?

No. It is no longer a stand alone executable file. It can only be opened as a child window from Eeschema. Since CvPcb no longer creates a footprint association file (*.cmp), running it as a stand alone executable would be meaningless.

Can you help with this problem?
