madparts as a replacement for the module editor

Asked by Peter Slupski

As the footprint editor is badly, badly broken (at least for me as I deem it comletely unusable, especially when I've got a deadline coming and have to bother with things like "save your library properly to the new format and import a .mod file" and not saving the footprint at all.) why not replace it with madparts?

I would not use madparts as a replacement footprint editor but possibly as an alternate footprint editor. Asking beginners to learn how to program is asking for trouble. The decision to use madparts would require a decision from the core developers. Even if the core developers decide to use madparts, it will not happen until after the next stable release.
