Will there be a stable release soon?

Asked by John D. Cook

I've been following the KiCAD group as a "lurker" for some time now and have also used the last "stable" release, available on the originator's site. This is a pretty good tool if I do say so myself but as a mere user I am unable to contribute much. I'm hoping that sometime soon there will be a new stable release with all the improvements people keep talking about.

When might I expect a new stable release of this tool?

Perhaps I can donate a few $$ to the cause?

Thanks.

The goal is to have a stable release sometime around the middle of this year. However, like many open source projects it will be released when it's ready. We are currently waiting on the differential pair router code to be committed at which point there will be a feature freeze and then the march towards a stable release will begin.

Donations can be make by going to the KiCad website at www.kicad-pcb.org and clicking on the "Donate via CERN" button on the main page. Thank you for your interest in KiCad.
