Via drill size NOT net class bound

Asked by Michele Santucci

Hallo,

I'm using KiCAD from a long time but I recently got stuck on a problem that I've been not able to solve.
I need to put a number of vias with different drill size from the 'default' via drill size (smaller ones).
Such vias are 'limited' to a part of a single net, other vias on the same net are and must be of 'default' drill size.

When I design such vias they are of correct drill size but when I plot them on drill file they are rendered with the default drill size.

The only 'partial' solution is to assign a different class to the net where 'small vias' reside but leads other vias on the same net to be rendered with the same size.
In fact on the dialog box shown when generating drill files it's clearly stated that "Default via drills: Use Netclass values" without chanche to change it.

Is it possibile to force KiCAD to use a different drill size for a given number of vias?

There's a way to manipulate drill file to achieve such result?

Best Regards,
 Weirdgyn

If you go under Tools > Design Rules and then go to the Global Design Rules tab you can add custom via sizes.
These will allow you to change the size of vias on the same net by selecting the custom size from the drop down in the upper left of pcbnew and then right clicking a via and clicking the "change via size and drill" option.

Does this do what you want?

Can you help with this problem?
