kicad zone filling problem

I use kicad 4021 on fedora 17. This version cannot do proper zone filling at
all - it just fills all space within the zone boundaries without taking
existing pads, vias or tracks into account.
This did not happen with rev3256.
Is this a known kicad bug, or is it a fedora problem?
