Where are the tarballs?

Asked by Ismael Luceno

I'm trying to update a package on SourceMage GNU/Linux, and would like to have tarballs instead of being forced to build from Bazaar...

Hello, I'm a maintainer from MacPorts. Would love to have tarballs, too!

KiCad does not provide source file archives. Unfortunately that lack of manpower is the primary reason for this. There is even talk of dropping the "stable" branch of the source code because it is typically less stable than the testing branch because bug fixes are committed to the testing branch and often do not get applied to the stable branch due to developers time constraints. Until someone steps up to maintain the "stable" branch and/or source archives, this situation will continue. I know this is probably not the answer you wanted but it is the reality of the project. That being said, you can always us Bazaar to grab the source from Launchpad which should get you what you need. It will just be a bit more effort on your end.

And if someone still needs tarballs, you can find the freshest ones every Monday night at: http://orson.net.pl/pub/kicad/

Can you help with this problem?
